Investing Coach - $100k/mo
I helped him hit $90k, but he still canceled on me
This guy was supposed to pay me $6k but only paid $4.5k (more on that later).
His goal was to scale as quickly as possible to $100k a month.
Everyone says they have 'big goals' but very few demonstrate through their actions and commitment that they can achieve them.
This guy did, so I believed we could do it. But we had a couple of obstacles to overcome first:
- He had an outstanding $30k debt
- He had multiple offers that weren't organized
- He was super inconsistent with DMs, Emails and making offers
- He was producing content, but it was unstructured and had no strategy
- He didn't have any actual systems in place - just throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks
- He was a notorious 'coach hopper' - something would work and then he'd jump to the next cool thing
This guy was doing well, in the $10-$30k a month range, very inconsistent, but still making stuff happen.
He was really skilled at what he taught which was helping his clients with investing.
To get this guy to $90k I knew my work was cut out for me, but here's what we decided to do:
1 - We structured his offer in 2-stages, the initial stage was in the $8-$12k range. Then the 2nd stage was $25-$30k.
His target audience could afford higher prices, plus the amount of work he did to help each client was incredible, so we needed to reflect that in the price.
The 2nd stage was crucial because he was losing clients after 3-6 months because they'd achieved their desired result, but wanted way more. And he was just trying to offer them random consulting or DFY work which didn't make sense.
2 - I'll repeat this until the end of time: "There is no shame in not hitting your goals, just shame in not knowing why"
Your goals are largely out of your control, but the inputs and the work you do daily is. So we set up the following:
- Daily Action Plan - The exact tasks to repeat Daily
- KPI Tracking - Tracking our inputs and numbers
- End of Day Reporting - Assessing each days performance and numbers
3 - I tell my clients all the time, the most powerful question you can ask is: "Who the F has my money?". Then go after it.
He had no idea who had his money, so we audited current clients, warm and hot leads, plus old clients who were happy.
We generated about $20k from his current clients, just by offering them a chance to pay their payment plans off early.
We then booked 18 calls from his warm and hot leads, that he had no idea were just sitting in his DMs, because he had no idea they were warm.
Then we sold 2 clients into the $30k package, albeit on longer term payment plans.
4 - We then got him documenting all of the tasks he performed daily, and made a complete SOP folder.
He had the money to hire and outsource but he never did because he had no idea how to train people.
Once we fixed this it was the true unlock to his growth. He'd say "Jason, what do I do with the rest of my day?".
I chuckled, because that's the goal.
Within 30 days we got to about $30k, but that covered off a majority of his outstanding debt so we had to keep pushing.
With about 90 days he was able to turn those 18 calls into a boat load of $8k sales and then the older clients payments came in.
He messaged me with a screen shot of his accounting software, he hit $90k in that month.
But he wasn't happy because it was a few thousand short of the $100k goal.
We helped him with some more systems, getting a few team members and support with managing clients.
But then the crazy part... he was still on a payment with us, and the last payment bounced.
Usually no problem, it happens to everyone. So we checked in, nothing... another attempt, bounce again.
Another attempt weeks later, complete ghost and our payment software stopped trying.
I heard nothing back from him... even though I have 10 screenshots of his results 50+ messages and a video of him saying how amazing we were.
I found out a few weeks later he joined another program that was 5x the price of ours. At first I was pissed.
But it was only $1.5k and there was a lesson I needed to learn in there.
The lesson was simple: Clients always want help, they always want to be improving. But they need new levels, new goals to look towards.
Our program helped him achieve his desired result, but we had nothing for him to progress to. Which is why we preach about 2-Stage offers now (funny because we built him one).
Eventually the story has a happy ending, we spoke to him, he had some family issues and made the financial commitment to this other program, that to no ones surprise didn't help, but sunk him into debt.
We held no ill-will to this guy and still chat to this very day. Which is why I'm telling his story now.
So from $10-$30k/mo all the way to $90k in a month. The tweaks were simple... it requires the right execution.
